Baby at week 15

Per twin, week 15 development: Bones harden. Fetus can sense light through closed eyelids. Practices breathing amniotic fluid.

Mother's body — what changes

Twin pregnancy at week 15 differs — expect: Nasal congestion. Gums may bleed when brushing (pregnancy gingivitis). Bump becomes noticeable.

Nutrition & supplements

Add ~340 kcal/day above pre-pregnancy baseline. Prioritise iron (27 mg/day), calcium (1000 mg), omega-3 DHA (200–300 mg) and 71 g protein. Continue prenatal vitamin. For twin gestation add an extra 300 kcal on top (total ~600 second trimester, ~750 third), 50% more iron, and split hydration to 3–3.5 L/day.

Safe exercise

Continue 150 min/week. Avoid supine (flat-on-back) exercises after week 20 — they compress the vena cava. Swimming and prenatal Pilates are ideal now. For twins reduce intensity 20% earlier — bed rest is not routinely indicated but modified activity from week 24 is prudent.
