International Shoe Size Converter (US, UK, EU, JP Chart)
There is no international standard for shoe sizing. The US and UK use barleycorn increments of one third of an inch from different zero points, continental Europe uses Paris points of two thirds of a centimetre, and Japan simply states foot length in centimetres — which is the only system that describes the foot rather than the last.
Measure your foot in the evening while standing — feet lengthen up to 4% through the day and under load.
| US | UK | EU | JP / cm | Inches |

How to measure your foot properly
Stand on a sheet of paper against a wall in the evening, heel touching the wall, and mark the longest toe. Measure both feet — a difference of half a size is common — and buy for the larger. Add roughly one centimetre of toe room for walking shoes and one and a half for running.
Why the same size fits differently
Sizing describes the last, not the foot. Italian dress lasts run narrow and long, American athletic lasts run wide and short, and Japanese brands often build for a higher instep. Two shoes both labelled EU 43 can differ by a full centimetre of internal length between brands.
Width is the missing dimension
US sizing uses letter widths from AA narrow through B, D standard, EE and EEEE. UK uses F, G and H fittings. Most European brands sell one width only. If a correctly sized shoe pinches across the ball of the foot, the answer is a wider fitting, not a longer shoe.

People also ask
How do US and UK shoe sizes differ?
UK sizes run one number below US men's and two below US women's. A US men's 10 is a UK 9; a US women's 8 is a UK 6.
What EU size is a US 10?
Approximately EU 43 in men's sizing, corresponding to a foot length of about 27.5 cm.
Should I size up for running shoes?
Usually by half a size. Feet swell during sustained running and need roughly one and a half centimetres of clearance at the toe to avoid nail damage on descents.

Quick answers about the Global Shoe & Clothing Converter
What exactly does the Global Shoe & Clothing Converter work out?
There is no international standard for shoe sizing. You enter sizing system, size you know and size value and the result panel updates straight away, so you can compare two or three versions of the same question in a few seconds.
What do I need before I start?
Only 3 fields: sizing system, size you know and size value. Nothing else is needed and nothing is stored.
How to measure your foot properly?
Stand on a sheet of paper against a wall in the evening, heel touching the wall, and mark the longest toe. The same maths runs inside this page, so hand-checking the result on paper gives you the identical figure.
Why do two calculators give me different answers for global Shoe & Clothing?
Sizing describes the last, not the foot. Different sites pick different assumptions, so always check which method a calculator states before you trust the gap between two numbers.
What does the "Men's shoe size conversion chart" table on this page tell me?
It is the reference range this tool works against — 8 rows from "7" (6) up to "14" (13). Use it to sanity-check whether the number you just calculated sits where you expected it to.
Which sizing system should I pick?
The dropdown offers 3 choices — Men's, Women's and Children's. Pick the one that matches your real situation rather than the one you would like to be true; sizing system usually moves the final figure more than any other single input, so it is worth running it twice with the option above and below your guess.
Does it work in both metric and imperial (or another currency)?
Yes. The "Sizing system" control converts every field and every result, so you never have to convert anything by hand before typing it in. Switch it after entering your numbers and the output re-renders instantly in the new system.
Do I have to press a button or reload the page to see the result?
No. Global Shoe & Clothing Converter runs completely inside your browser, so the moment you change a value the cards recalculate — there is no submit step, no page reload and no waiting for a server round trip. That also means it keeps working on a weak or intermittent mobile connection.
Is it free, and do you keep what I type?
It is free with no sign-up, no app install and no usage limit. Nothing you enter into Global Shoe & Clothing Converter leaves your device — the calculation is JavaScript running locally, so there is no upload of your figures to DrHint or anyone else.
Can I use it on a phone?
Yes — the layout stacks to a single column on small screens and the number fields open the numeric keypad on both Android and iOS. Many people bookmark this page or add it to their home screen and re-open it whenever the question comes up.
Anything to be careful about with the result?
UK sizes run one number below US men's and two below US women's. Treat the output as a well-grounded estimate for planning, not as a professional, legal or medical decision on its own.
